Description

Archaeological monitoring was undertaken of the drilling of nine geotechnical boreholes along part of the proposed route of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass. Palaeoenvironmental examination of the recovered borehole cores largely revealed a sequence of natural, fluvial and alluvial deposits overlain by topsoil. A small fragment of possibly Roman brick or tile was recovered from one of the borehole cores, indicating possible Roman settlement activity in this area. {1}{2}
