Source/Archive record (Archive) SLI14692 - Land at Mill Road, Addlethorpe

Title Land at Mill Road, Addlethorpe
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2013

Abstract/Summary

Archive for the excavation of six trial trenches, dug to inform the proposed construction of new fishing lakes on land at Mill Road, Addlethorpe. The trenches were located only in those areas that would be affected by the development, and did not directly investigate the probable saltern sites previously identified by geophysical survey. Evidence of ancient salt making activity in this area was confirmed, however, with the recovery of fragmentary pieces of redeposited briquetage and the identification of a number of former saltmarsh channels.
