Full Description

Casterton House was assessed by English Heritage in March 2013, for adding to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. It was decided that the criteria for listing was not met in this instance, as the building was deemed typical for its date and has limited architectural interest. The building has also seen significant alterations, with an extension to the rear, and replacement concrete tile coverings to part of the roof. The building was described as a two-storey house, built in local stone, with an 1887 date stone. The house has a modern two-storey extension to the rear, with a single-storey link to the south-west corner. It has been in use as a care home in recent years, though proposals to demolish the building had been received. {1}
