Full Description

During a geophysical survey conducted in April 2004, a rectilinear enclosure containing areas of possible industrial activity was encountered. {1} Oxford Archaeology undertook a programme of trial trenching on land to the west of the A1 Gonerby Moor roundabout, Great Gonerby in May 2004. An undated pit and an undated north to south aligned ditch were revealed. {2}{3} Though no dating evidence for these features was recovered, a Roman date is tentatively suggested due to the presence of Roman features in the immediate vicinity (MLI97722). It is also possible that these features relate to activity associated with the nearby post-Medieval farmstead (MLI1211561).
