Full Description

A fragment of a limestone-built structure, interpreted as a wall foundation, was located in the southern verge of the A52 road, during installation of a new road sign near Sedgebrook, Lincolnshire. The feature, which lay beneath a shallow depth of topsoil, was aligned east-west, continuing beyond the limits of the pit in each direction. It was at least 1.12m deep and 0.7m wide, comprising large facing stones to the south with a rubble core. The feature, which was not dated, could have represented a roadside wall. However, the proximity of the site to Newbo Abbey raises the possibility that the feature might have been associated with the Abbey complex. {1}{2}
