Full Description
Gate and gate piers dating from about 1730. Two ashlar gate piers in the form of obelisks with fluted circular bases with lions heads. The piers are topped with pineapple knops, and have human head masks with dependant foliage and moulded shells on the sides. The gate piers formerly stood on the forecourt and may originally have formed part of a garden terrace. The gate piers formerly stood in the forecourt to Well Hall and were moved in the late 20th century to near to the kitchen garden entrance. They were again moved in around 2004 to their present location. {2}
