The Boston General Baptist congregation is known, from documentary sources, to have met in premises belonging to Mr John Saul, on the south side of Hammond Beck in Skirbeck Quarter, prior to the building of the chapel in the High Street in 1763 (PRN 13964). In 1856 the building was in use as a granary at which time it was reported that remains of burial memorials lay beneath the floor. A Baptist Meeting House is marked at this location on a 1741 map of Boston.{1}{2}{3}
