PRN 36915 Stables, constructed c. 1688 with late 19th and 20th century additions and alterations, now used as a tea room. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar front and slate roof, and is by William Stanton, Master Mason. The interior retains early stalls with turned wooden columns. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} A watching brief was carried out in an area of the old stables (the location is unclear). A former floor and sections of wall of a late 19th-20th century date were uncovered along with a well and other features which may relate to a 19th-20th century laundry or other activity requiring supplies of fresh water. Features relating to the building's use as a garage in the 20th century were also encountered. {2}
