Full Description

No 2 is the Rose and Crown Public House. Range of mid 18th century buildings of three storeys in red brick. Pantiles. Stone plinth. No 10 is separate but similar, lower two windows to top storey with sliding sashes as others. Round-arched passage entry. Nos 4 to 8 have diagonal-set brick eaves cornice. Windows to top floor have sliding sashes with glazing bars. Brick bands between storeys. Seven windows to range, others hung sashes; ground floor windows boarded up. Small 19th century shop window to No l0. Stone plinth. No 2 has been cement rendered. One window without glazing bars. Flat-arched yard entry. Right-hand section has parapet. Two windows. Band between 1st and 2nd storeys intact, moulded band between ground and 1st floors above modern windows. Rendered plinth. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2} A site visit was undertaken on the brick outbuilding at 10 Watergate, Sleaford, prior to its proposed demolition. The outbuilding is of makeshift construction, and built of brick. It comprises a range of service buildings, including laundry, coal and fuel stores, workshops, privies and possible servant accommodation. The building was probably built in the second part of the 19th century, and had been heavily altered in the 20th century. {3}
