Full Description
Fieldwork carried out in 2000 and 2002 revealed Bronze Age/early Iron Age deposits beneath the late Iron Age-Roman settlement. These deposits consist of traces of wooden palisades representing land division and enclosure. No artefacts were recovered. {1}{2}
Later, Carbon 14 dates were obtained from bone at the bottom of a well preserved palisade slot in Trench D. This pushed the dating back to the Neolithic period, to about 3500/3600BC when calibrated. {3}
