Full Description

PRN 46437 Parish church built in 1879 by James Fowler of Louth. Squared greenstone rubble with ashlar dressings. Plain tiled roofs with stone coped gables having cross fleurys and decorative ridges. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The nave of the church was in a bad state of repair at the time of the Archdeacon of Lincoln's visitation in 1662. There was brief issued for the the assistance of Thimbleby in 1741/42 and this was possibly for the repair of the church. Cox says that the old church was pulled down in 1744. {2}{3} Rebuilt in 1744 and again by James Fowler in 1879. The stained glass in the south nave dates from 1917 by Heaton, Butler and Bayne. {4}
