Full Description

PRN 36535 An archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) was undertaken at Watergate Car Park, Watergate, Grantham in advance of residential development. Five trenches were excavated and revealed the remains of Georgian and Victorian period building foundations. The limestone foundations of these buildings could possibly be of Medieval origin, however no dating was recovered from them. Medieval pottery was however recovered from beneath these foundations, indicating the survival of medieval layers in certain areas of the site. {1} 2}
