Full Description

The Cornmarket was built on the site of the old Guildhall at the cost of about £6000, raised by £10 shares. It has twenty-four stalls and a glass roof but the front part of the building is in three storeys and is divided into offices. {1} The Cornmarket was built in 1853 and designed by the architect Pearson Bellamy. It stands three storeys high, and is built of heavily weathered ashlar with brick sides, and features a Welsh slate roof.
