A stone plaque stands on the front of this building which is inscribed 'Francis Julien Engineer, 1755'. It stands two storeys high with a gabled attic in red and black brick. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2}{3}{4} This 18th century mill building forms an attractive group with the bridge (PRN 45570) and Mill House (PRN 47167). {5} The Old Mill, on Bridge Street, was assessed in 2013 by English Heritage, as part of the Louth Defined Area Survey, resulting in an amendment to its List Entry Description. The building is dated to 1755, and remained a water-powered mill throughout the 19th century, until 1920, by which time milling has ceased. The building was then used as a garage until 1969, and it was subsequently restored and converted to a dwelling in 1973-6. The building is of red brick with vitrified headers used for decorative effect. The roof is covered with clay pantiles. A section of the shuttle mechanism, used to control the flow of water into the wheel house, remains at the south-west corner of the building.
