Full Description

PRN 70368 An archaeological watching brief was conducted during the excavation of geotechnical pits on land at the former Anchor Street Works, Anchor Street, Lincoln. The watching brief required the monitoring of 24 machine-excavated geotechnical trial pits (nominally 2m long and 0.60m wide). In Trial Pit 17, a light to mid brown sand with occasional limestone inclusions was revealed from which two sherds 13th century pottery were retrieved. Although not important in themselves, the finds (in conjunction with others recovered during this and previous investigations) indicate Medieval activity on or immediately adjacent to the site {1} {2}
