Full Description

Cropmarks of an enclosure of possible Roman date, on land off Lincoln Road, Ruskington. Visible as perpendicular linear features, defined by single ditches with a maximum length of 200m. The linear features are thought to probably form part of enclosures of possible Roman date, and are recorded to the east of the known course of a Roman road. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}{2} Geophysical survey by magnetometry undertaken in February 2020 identified the extent of the northern side of the enclosure, and subsequent trial trenching later in the same year confirmed the existence of the ditch. Although dating evidence was scarce, it was tentatively dated to the Roman period. {3}{4}{5}{6}
