61986 A war memorial was constructed in 1919, with a Portland Stone statue of infantryman with bowed head, resting hads on the butt of an up-turned rifle. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2} Metheringham war memorial was unveiled in 1920 in dedication to those who died in the First World War. Later, it was also used as a memorial to the dead of the Second World War. The memorial stands at the corner of High Street and Middle Street in the centre of the village. It consists of a Carrara marble statue of a soldier of the Lincolnshire Regiment standing on an Aberdeen granite pedestal. The memorial is situated in a memorial garden. {3}
