Full Description

61571 The Manor House is an early nineteenth century farmhouse. It is built of limestone ashlar with a hipped slate roof and white brick stacks. It is two storey and has three bays. Also, there is a long barn range to the north west, with attached crew-yard with stable and cart sheds (see PRN 65490). There are also gates and walls at the Manor House which are listed (see PRN 65604). For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The farm is marked on the OS county series map of 1932 as St John's Heath. St John's Heath is referred to in documents as early as 1579, and it seems that the former name of the farm is a continuation of this name. {2}{3} The Manor House (St. John's Heath), Bracebridge Heath. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with multiple regular yards. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {4}
