Full Description

PRN 61077 All Saints church has an Early English west tower and a Norman/Early English font. The rest dates from 1903-04. {1} A church in Eagle is mentioned in the Domesday Book. {2} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {3} During a watching brief a possible grave cut was identified, idicating the presence of a grave. {4}{5} A watching brief, undertaken by Archaeological Project Services during the excavation of foundation trenches for a new extension and an associated drainage trench, in May 2012 revealed medieval and/or post medieval roof tile, stone tile and coffin furniture from the 19th century. Fragments of stone from restorations of the church from the 18th and 20th centuries were also found. {6}{7}
