Full Description

PRN 60946 The medieval church of St Andrew has replaced an Anglo-Saxon predecessor. It has Norman, Early English and Perpendicular features. {1}{2}{3} Archaeological monitoring during the installation of new drains around the walls of the church located the buttress foundations of the thirteenth century aisle and established that the seventeenth century bellcote at the west end of the nave probably replaced an earlier bellcote in the same position. {4}{5} Stained glass in this church, which is still in situ, dates to the 15th century.{6} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {7} The church and its clergy are discussed in Yerburgh and Trollope. {8}{9}
