Series of small enclosures attached to ditched boundary seen in aerial photographs as cropmarks in Long Bennington. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7}
A magnetometry scanning survey was undertaken on c.6ha of land to the north of Valley Lane, Long Bennington. The scanning survey detected a number of features, identified as a enclosure complex. The scanning survey preceded a more detailed systematic survey (LI4360). In this survey, five areas were surveyed in detail to test both the presence and absence of archaeology. Areas 2 and 3 produced evidence for a well-defined enclosure, which corresponds with aerial photographic evidence {8}.
