Full Description

This area of the Castle was used as a debtor's cemetery in the late 18th century. A watching brief, conducted in 1992-93, uncovered burials connected with the cemetery. Coffin nails and handles, buttons and an iron plaque were found with the skeletons. {1} Two burials were uncovered in 1997, along with an area of disturbed human remains, during work for a new gas main for Lincoln Crown Court. {2}{3}
