SIXHILLS PRIORY HELD LAND AND PROPERTY IN HOLTON THAT WAS ORGANISED AS A GRANGE. THERE ARE NO REMAINS TO INDICATE THAT THE PRESENT HOLTON GRANGE (TF123823) MARKS THE SITE: INDEED THIS FARM SEEMS TO STAND IN THE FURLONGS OF FORMER OPEN FIELD LAND; THS ITE PROBABLY LAY WITHIN HOLTON VILLAGE, FOR IT WAS BASED ON AN EXISTING DESMESNE FARM, PERHAPS OCCUPYING THE SQUARISH BLOCK FILLED BY HOLTON HALL, WHICH CAUSES THE ROAD TO DIVERT NORTH AND SOUTH. {1}
