Full Description

Reasby Grange belonged to Barlings Abbey. In a surviving Coroner's roll, dated 1290-1, there is a record of one 'Henry Lebrade, a familiar of Barlings, staying at the grange of Reasby, by misfortune became mad. He later died'. Kirkstead may have had an interest here too. At Reasby and Stainton Field, Nicholas Sawnderson rented the woodwarkes and a meadow, ten acres of pasture and ten acres of arable for 10 shillings in 1537. {1}{2}{3} There is a modern farm known as Reasby Grange some distance to the west, at TF 0572 7961, though it is unclear whether this marks the original location of the grange. {4}
