Full Description

There are three mills mentioned in Domesday Book. Simon de Kyme granted a mill in Hackthorn to Bullington Priory in about 1155. Early in the reign of Henry II, Alexander de Crevequer granted land to the same priory, next to the mill situated on the fee of Simon de Kyme. {1}. Although it is uncertain when Hackthorne Mill was built, it was derelict by 1923 and demolished by 1951. {2} Source Two does not give the location of the mill, but since the mill was probably a water mill, the building must have stood close to the beck and near the present Grange Farm. {3}
