Full Description

Bullington Priory held a Grange in Hackthorn based around the gift of forty acres of arable, ten acres of meadow and two acres of dwelling next to the mill, together with common pasture for 500 sheep, ten cows and ten calves. After the dissolution the Grange was granted to Charles, Duke of Suffolk. The Grange is still referred to in the late 17th century. {1} A farm called The Grange is visible on the first edition one inch Ordnance Survey map of 1824. {2} There is a possible fish pond visible on the aerial photographs which may have been part of the grange complex. {3}
