Full Description

51187 LARGE NUMBERS OF UNLOCATED RIVERSIDE FEATURES, PRINCIPALLY WEIRS, FISHERIES AND MILLS, AND THE MAJORITY MONASTIC APPURTENANCES, ARE DOCUMENTED, APPARENTLY LYING IN BARDNEY OR ON THE OPPOSITE BANK OF THE RIVER WITHAM. THEIR LOCATIONS MAY BE INDICATED BY SMALL PARCELS OF LAND, RECKONED TO BE FREE OF TITHE IN THE C19, THAT LIE ALONG THE RIVER BANK. {1} There is a documentary reference of 1387-88 to a fishery on the Witham which was owned with a manor at Nocton. {2}
