Full Description
The garden remains at Fulnetby Hall, the supposed moat, was formerly recorded by Ordnance Survey as being L-shaped with water-filled north and west arms and traces of a south arm, laterly reduced to a north to south ditch only. Early maps show two water-filled arms in exactly the same configuration but further north. This rectangular arrangement of two equally sided squares with the sixteenth century Fulnetby Old Hall within and on the same axis is likely to be a post medieval formal garden layout rather than a medieval moated residence. No medieval pottery was found in fieldwalking the site. The hall is sixteenth century with major seventeenth and early nineteenth century alterations. {3}{6}{7}
Fulnetby House (formerly listed as Fulnetby Old Hall ) is a Grade II listed farmhouse, which is now divided into two dwellings. It was built in the 16th century but underwent major rebuilding in the 17th and early 19th century. {8}
Fulnetby Hall, Fulnetby. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with multiple regular yards. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {9}
