Photographs of the Church are held in parish file. {5} Excavations were conducted inside the church in 1982, in advance of works to refloor the nave. The investigation revealed a number of different phases of construction for the building, including the footings for an earlier north nave wall. A further set of sandstone foundations were also recorded, within the limestone footings, and were thought to represent the existence of an earlier church on the site, dating from the 11th century. {6}
