Full Description

A GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY AND ASSOCIATED FIELD WALKING IN ADVANCE OF A PIPELINE IDENTIFIED A POSSIBLE NEOLITHIC MORTUARY ENCLOSURE OR LONG BARROW. AN OBLONG DITCHED ENCLOSURE ALIGNED WEST TO EAST ABOUT 30 METRES WIDE AND AT LEAST 60 METRES IN LENGTH CONTINUING BEYOND THE EASTERN BOUNDARY OF THE SITE. THE WESTERN CORNERS ARE ROUNDED AND THE FEATURE WAS INTERPRETED AS A MORTUARY ENCLOSURE BECAUSE OF THE PROXIMITY OF UP TO FIVE ROUND BARROWS, THE PRESENCE OF WORKED FLINTS AND ITS GENERAL MORPHOLOGY. {1}{2}{3}
