Full Description

A redundant parish church of St Peter, Low Toynton, with a surrounding graveyard. The exterior was completely refaced in the early 19th century but the church has claim to a more grand history. Two churches are noted for Toynton in Domesday, and the chancel arch is usually assigned to the late Norman period (1100AD to 1200AD). The churchyard exists largely undisturbed. {1}{2}{3}{4} Although a 19th century church, St Peter's is said to contain a Late Norman chancel arch but there is doubt about this. The Perpendicular (1180AD to around 1520AD) font has been removed to Clixby when the church was made redundant. {2}{3}{4} A redundent parish church, built in 1811 although it re uses mid 12th century fragments.
