TF 27 SE LOW TOYNTON (off) MAIN STREET (south side) 2/125 Church of St.Peter 14.9.66 II* Parish church, now redundant. 1811 re-using mid C12 fragments, late C19. Green sandstone rubble, some limestone ashlar dressings. Slate roof with gabled west bellcote with semi- circular headed bell openings and stone coped gable. Nave with west bellcote, chancel with north vestry. Plinth. West front with semi-circular headed doorway, keystone, imposts, ornate traceried fanlight and double doors with upper semi-circular headed panels. North side of nave without fenestration. Gabled late C19 north vestry with blocked lancet in east side. East end of chancel with 3 C19 lancets, that in centre, taller. South side of nave with 2 semi-circular headed windows with Y tracery. Mid C12 chancel arch with semi-circular chamfered head and polygonal responds with moulded capitals and abaci. Late C19 vestry doorway with pointed head and continuous moulded surround. C19 pews and pulpit. In a severe state of dilapidation. Listing NGR: TF2753170494
