Somersby Grange was built in 1722 for Robert Burton, supposedly by Sir John Vanbrugh although a drawing suggests it may have been Robert Alfray. {1}{2} Somersby Grange is a Grade I Listed house which was built in red brick in 1722, possibly by Sir John Vanbrugh for Robert Burton. Additions to the house were undertaken in 1929. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {3} The principal entrance is in the north front, with a second entrance in the central bay of the south front. The single storey brick porch was added to the north front in the late 18th century. The single storey wing was added to west in mid to late 19th century. {4}
