Full Description

Medieval site at Skendleby. Unworked sandstone and chalk rubble found. Other finds include a medieval green glazed pitcher, 1 fragment of Shelly Ware, mussel shells and bone. {1}{2} The National Mapping Programme plotted a large quantity of earthworks associated with medieval settlement in Skendleby. These appear to have two separate focuses (see also PRN 42058). The earthworks plotted in this area of settlement include an earthwork moat, field boundary, boundary ditches, ridge and furrow, and a mound. {3}
