Full Description
Placename evidence for a possible medieval manor house at Legbourne. {1}
The current property on this site is known as the 'Manor House', and was the subject of a programme of historic building recording, conducted in October 2014 to inform proposed residential development. The building is a two-storey cottage of late 18th or early 19th century date (see PRN 49269). No evidence of any earlier use of the site could be determined, however, and it may just be that the name was used to give the site some sense of status and grandeur. {2}{3}
