Full Description

The Church of St Peter has a medieval chancel arch but the main body of the building is post-medieval. A porch was built in 1522 and the west tower is dated 1606 on the west face. {1}{2} The current building occupies the same site as a previous church which was said to have been washed away. {3} A parish church with architectural features surviving from the 14th century, 1522, and 1606. The nave was rebuilt in 1841, and the chancel in 1941. It was constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs. Just below the offset to the second stage is an ashlar datestone inscribed '1606 Anthone Swell'.
