Full Description
Site of the deserted medieval village of Sudstone. Canon Foster lists Sudstone in the parish of Great Sturton, a village, now lost, which is mentioned in Domesday. He says it may be assumed that it lay south or south-west of Great Sturton (TF2176?) which in the 12th century was known as North Sturton.{1}{3}
Site not located by name, but see PRN 40287 for the deserted village of Little Stourton in what is now Baumber parish, also PRN 40285, for other village sites and PRN 40290 for further earthworks, all of which are in Baumber parish, and south, south-east and south-west of Great Sturton. The site of this deserted medieval village was not located.{2}
