THE PRIORY, THE INTERIOR MAY CONTAIN REMAINS OF FIFTEENTH CENTURY OPEN HALL. POSSIBLE SITE OF CISTERCIAN PRIORY THAT LATER MOVED TO VAUDEY IN GRIMSTHORPE PARK. {1} IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT THIS IS THE SITE OF THE CISTERCIAN PRIORY THAT WAS FOUNDED IN CASTLE BYTHAM IN THE TWELFTH CENTURY BUT SOON MOVED TO VAUDEY. {2} No.14, (The Priory) is a Grade II* listed house, built in the 15th century, with 16th and 17th additions and 19th and 20th century alterations. {4} Unnamed farmstead, Castle Bytham. Partially extant 18th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of T plan. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. {5}
