Full Description

An old road runs south (from the manor) to the chapel site. {1} An excavation was undertaken by the South Witham Archaeology Group in 2008 and 2009 at Chapel Hill, Hall Farm, Lobthorpe. Extant walls and a large selection of painted and plain window glass suggested that the site was a chantry chapel. The small finds which included pottery, nails and coins indicated that the chapel dates from the 11th to 14th century. However there were some finds, including coins which dated after this period. {2}{3}
