Full Description

Romano-British pottery sherds including Colour Coated wares, a calcite gritted base, a Swanpool Frilled rim and a bowl with inturned rim were found in 1973, at Quadring Fen primary school. {1} An excavation of the northern site was planned. A local teacher has visited the site with school children, they hold about 1300 sherds of Romano-British pottery. {2}{3}{4}{5} A bronze coin of Magnentius was found at TF 174 315. It has been referenced as being from Quadring. {6} During fieldwalking carried out by the Fenland Survey at this site, Romano-British pottery was found along with sparse bone and fired clay fragments and a single possible tile. An unidentified and undated soilmark was also observed. {7}
