Full Description
A large complex of possible settlement and field system cropmarks (see also MLI22384 and MLI22370), including parallel ditches flanking two trackways and a circular cropmark possibly representing a ring ditch. {1}{2}
During a programme of trial trenching on this site in March-April 2018, a large number of undated ditches were encountered (see MLI128036). It is considered likely that at least some of these ditches form part of the Roman-era field system. {3}{4}
A subsequent strip, map and record excavation on the eastern part of the same site revealed a group of ditches of Roman date forming a number of small paddocks. These were discovered in association with a possible structure (see MLI22384) and material culture suggestive of a nearby settlement. {5}{6}
