Full Description

A general sherd scatter over the area, with concentrations on patches of darker soil which all yielded 2nd to 3rd century pottery. A:TF20132362 the largest and most clearly defined area, occupation continued until probably the late 4th century, Flavian sherds attested occupation beginning in 1st century. Concentrations of baked clay fragments and powder, were also seen. {1}{2}{3} The indicated area is perfectly flat and the soil of a uniform colour. Partial perambulation of the crop was possible, a few greyware sherds were found.{1} During the fenland survey an extensive scatter of debris, including quern, pottery, slag and stone was noted. {4} This site is within an area of extensive cropmarks (20153). {6}
