Full Description

At Crowland, a number of mounds are regarded by Canham as tumuli. One of these he gives at Peacock Barn. This placename has been sited by Mrs Hallam to TF 246 104, where she claims the mounds to probably be mill mounds. The 25" Ordnance Survey map of 1904 shows a corn windmill at TF 2444 1064. {1}{2}{3} There is no trace of a mound in the southern area. The mill at TF 2444 1064 has been levelled; the site now falling in an area of new houses. See also the record for the Barrow Cemetery (PRN 20265). {4}
