SCATTER OF POTTERY BETWEEN THIS AREA (RECENTLY LEVELLED) AND ROAD TO THE NORTHEAST. MEDIEVAL AND POST MEDIEVAL WARES INCLUDED STAMFORD WARE. THIS WAS A HIGH RIDGE POSSIBLY A CONTINUATION OF A LINE OF SALTER MOUNDS TO THE SOUTH. SOME TYPICAL SALTERN SLAG WAS FOUND BUT NO OTHER SATISFACTORY EVIDENCE. {1}~ HILARY HEALEY PROVIDED A MORE PRECISE LOCATION: ACTUALLY IN DONINGTON PARISH. {2}~ SALT PANS ARE MENTIONED IN THE DOMESDAY BOOK. {3}
