Full Description

During a programme of trial trenching In 2015, a group of features of Late Medieval date were discovered on land to the east of Main Street and south of Station Road, Torksey. These comprised pits, ditches, gullies and post holes, and a possible trackway, and probably represented occupation activity and small-scale agriculture. Finds recovered included a small assemblage of pottery and animal bone, and environmental remains indicative of domestic activity. A deposit of wind-blown sands separated these features from an earlier phase of activity of Late Saxon date (see MLI127763). {1}{2}
