Full Description

During a programme of trial trenching in early 1997, a ditch interpreted as a flanking ditch for a trackway was encountered. Three sherds of green glazed Medieval pottery were recovered from the fill of this ditch. {1} A probable trackway was identified on land to the west of Peterborough Road, Langtoft, during an archaeological excavation in December 1998-January 1999. Two parallel northwest-southeast aligned ditches were encountered, some 15m apart, and were interpreted as flanking ditches for a trackway. Though no finds were recovered from the ditches, they were assumed to be Medieval or later due to their alignment with Peterborough Road. {2}{3}
