Full Description

Possible Roman features were identified during a programme of trial trenching undertaken on land at Horncastle College, Mareham Road, Horncastle in September 2020. Two gullies, two ditches, a pit and a possible pit were identified. Abraded Roman pottery was recovered from the fill of a gully and the two ditches, suggesting a possible Roman date. The pottery may have been residual, however, and due to the abrasion and small size of the assemblage it is not possible to give a firm date for these features. {1}{2}
