Description

Four trial trenches were excavated to inform the proposed construction of a new public sector hub on land at the former Horncastle College, Mareham Road, Horncastle. No archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered in the three trenches at the north of the site. The fourth trench, to the south, revealed pits, linears and gullies of probable Roman date and a small quantity of Neolithic or early Bronze Age worked flint debitage. {1}{2}
