Full Description

Storage barn. Formerly the North Range of the crewyard complex, now discrete. Large two storey building of orange and dark red brick in irregular English Garden Wall Bond, under a hipped pantile roof. Single large three centred arch door on the north elevation, infilled with modern breeze block. The north elevation also has slit ventilators at ground floor level, with diamond vents above. There is a first floor loading door on the east elevation. A modern extension of the same size as the original barn has been added to the south elevation. It is constructed in brick in English Garden Wall Bond, under a mono-pitch roof of corrugated sheets. To the north is a lean-to barn structure constructed of timber telegraph poles with a corrugated metal roof. Internally, a matching door in the south elevation of the original barn, now leading into the southern extension, has also been infilled by breeze blocks. There is no evidence of a platform at the east end of the barn where the loading door enters, though presumably one existed. The gable scar of the former East Range of the crewyard complex can be seen on the south elevation of the original barn. {1}{2}{3}
