Full Description

40 sherds of Romano-British pottery recovered from land at Rectory Farm, Grantham, during a programme of trial trenching in 2013. The majority of the sherds consist of sandy greywares in generally good condition; of these there are examples of everted rim jar and bowl forms. Two body sherd of Nene Valley colour coated were were retrieved, as well as a sherd of Spanish Dressel 20 amphora. A general date range of 2nd to 3rd centuries AD is suggested for the assemblage. Just over 1.5kg of slag in 8 pieces was recovered from the site and is associated with the Romano-British pottery. {1}
